Custom Fabrication Services

Phase Automation can custom design and construct most any machine or facility automation system. We take pride in our fabrication capabilities, particularly in the area of large scale delay and curing systems for the automotive and audio manufacturing processes. This is one area that really separates Phase Automation from our competitors; we are experts in the design and fabrication of steel and aluminum tube assemblies and frames. Our fabrication group has extensive
experience working with large scale tube frame structures including horizontal and vertical curing ovens, time delay and long distance transit conveyors operating under very high continuous loads. We also have extensive experience with design and construction of fabrication fixtures for manufacturing facilities.

Our fabrication department has the latest tools, cutters and welding equipment at their disposal including genuine Miller welding equipment, plasma cutters and a host of standard fabrication tools such as blade and abrasive cutters as well as bending and shaping equipment. Contact Phase Automation with your fabrication challenges and let us make them into working equipment for your manufacturing facility or specialty application.

Automated Industrial Ovens & Process Curing Systems

Phase Automation has vast experience with large format curing systems for industrial use. We have designed, built and installed curing systems with capacities up to 480 cubic meters and as small as 10 cubic meters. Several of our standardized driver assembly systems come standard with curing systems. These include the Gen 7, Gen 8 and Gen 9 woofer assembly systems which are supplied with horizontal curing ovens as well as the Sigma Transducer System which comes standard with a vertical array oven.

Our horizontal oven designs are applicable to many products ranging from consumer goods with painted or enamel finishes to speaker drivers and assemblies.

For speaker and consumer goods processing, temp ranges and profiles are typically adjustable within the range of 45C to 70C with RH typically in the 15% range or lower. Depending on configuration, part flow and process, temperature profiles with resolution as tight as +- 1 degree C are achievable.

Depending on the application, controls for Phase Automation curing systems can be dedicated temp and airflow control only all the way to fully digitized control through PLC. Our most popular models are based on PLC and 10.4ˇ± color HMI. The PLC offers vastly better control of the system variables while also allowing easier field adjustment of the conveyors, temp profiles and other key features. Startup sequencing is automated on most models to minimize electrical loading or excessive inrush current which can sometimes trip GFI circuits, particularly in areas with power grid stability issues.

Our horizontal configuration ovens come standard with our segmented pallet conveyor system. The segmented pallet system gives our design team great flexibility in terms material flow path and direction since the segmented pallets will follow any reasonable path. Pallets are constructed from tough glass filled nylon for long service life and temperature stability.

Conveyor drive systems can be fixed speed or fully adjustable depending on customer request. Most popular are the variable speed systems which allow the factory to tailor the line speed suit process and production requirements.

All Phase Automation products are built with safety and consistency in mind. More than that, we also consider the service life span of the major components. Another significant factor is mobility of a curing system. Typically, the curing systems are large and heavy. Our approach is to build modular, bolt up sections so that the system can be moved at a later date should the factory location or layout change.

In the event that one of our existing platforms is not applicable to your particular challenge, Phase Automation can design and deliver a custom made oven for your facility. Contact us today to discuss your particular needs and find out how Phase Automation can deliver the curing system to meet your needs.

Custom Built Driver & System Test Cabinets

Phase Automation leverages the strength and core competencies of each division within the Phase Group. When it comes to acoustic testing, Phase Automation has a significant advantage when it comes to application of acoustic testing cabinets. In a combined effort, our Design and Automation divisions have developed what have rapidly become the standard by which all other testing cabinets are measured. Taking that one step further, Phase Group has demonstrated that the cabinet, baffle and fixtures have a far greater impact on acoustic testing performance and stability than any other aspect of a modern test system in good working order. While the computer driven test systems are exceedingly good in an electrical loop mode and can deliver unprecedented
levels of information, they all fall victim to the same problem. Acoustic interference plays a huge part in the reliability and repeatability of an on-line acoustic testing setup. Noise from the factory environment, air blowers, pneumatic systems, fans, vibrations in the floorˇ all get into your test and have a significant impact on the stability. This issue typically shows up as false negative results on the test system which have a negative influence on many aspects of production. SPC data resolution must be questioned, operators on the line question the accuracy of the test system and start making pass fail decisions on the own and in some cases, facility supervisors or managers will disregard the testing altogether and ship all speakers or systems regardless of the determination by the system.
